From Prussia, With Love

Once upon a time, during the Franco-Prussian (a.k.a The 1870 war), sometime after The Battle of Wissembourg, a soldier was in battle triumphantly firing his weapon, while hiding behind a wheel barrell from return fire. When the carnage was over, and he could claim that a dozen souls had perished to "his shot", his ranking officer walked up to him and said, "You know, son; typically in war, we don't fire on our own troops."
He answered, "Oh shut up," as he was reloading his sidearm.
